Antioxidant
What is an antioxidant?
In skincare, an antioxidant is a quiet form of protection.
Every day, the skin meets the world — sunlight, pollution, stress, changing weather, and the natural rhythm of time. These everyday exposures can create free radicals: unstable molecules that place pressure on the skin and contribute to visible signs of dullness, fatigue and environmental stress.
Antioxidants help by softening that pressure. They work to neutralise free radicals before they can unsettle the skin’s natural balance — supporting a complexion that feels calmer, stronger and more resilient.
They can come from many places: from the skin itself, from vitamins, from botanicals, from plant compounds, and from ingredients such as Coenzyme Q10, resveratrol, green tea, licorice root, vitamin B3 and vitamin B5.
The ideal time to apply an antioxidant serum is in the morning, after cleansing and before facial oil, moisturiser and sunscreen — so it can sit beneath your day as a protective layer. It can also be used in the evening, when the ritual turns toward replenishment.
Guardian was created for this daily moment.
