Resveratrol

Origin

Resveratrol is a naturally occurring polyphenol produced by certain plants as part of their protective response to environmental stress. Although it is widely associated with the skins of red grapes, the Resveratrol used by AREUM is derived from the root of Polygonum cuspidatum, commonly known as Japanese knotweed.

The root is processed into a highly concentrated botanical powder extract rich in Resveratrol. This provides a more consistent and concentrated source of the active compound than relying on grape or berry extracts in which Resveratrol may be present in smaller, less predictable amounts.

How AREUM Uses It

We use Resveratrol in Guardian Antioxidant Serum, where it works alongside Coenzyme Q10, green tea, licorice root and niacinamide.

It forms part of Guardian’s layered antioxidant system, helping care for skin exposed to sunlight, pollution and other everyday environmental stressors. Rather than relying on one hero antioxidant, Guardian combines ingredients with complementary properties to provide more considered and comprehensive support.

Why AREUM Chose Resveratrol

We chose Resveratrol for its strong antioxidant activity and its ability to support multiple visible aspects of skin health within a single botanical active.

It helps neutralise reactive molecules linked to oxidative stress while supporting the skin’s natural protective responses. Research has also explored its role in calming visible signs of stress and supporting the appearance of firmness, tone and resilience.
