Green Tea Extract – Organic
Origin
Green Tea Extract is obtained from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, the evergreen plant from which green, white, oolong and black teas originate. Green tea leaves are processed with minimal oxidation, helping retain many of their naturally occurring plant compounds, including polyphenols known as catechins.
The certified organic extract used by AREUM is suspended in a base of organic glycerine and water. This gently draws the water-soluble components from the leaves and creates a fluid botanical extract that can be incorporated evenly into a water-based serum.
How AREUM Uses It
We use Organic Green Tea Extract in Guardian Antioxidant Serum, where it works alongside Coenzyme Q10, resveratrol, licorice root, niacinamide and other hydrating and antioxidant ingredients.
It contributes botanical antioxidant care while the glycerine-based format blends naturally into Guardian’s water phase. The glycerine also provides humectant benefits, helping the extract complement the serum’s broader system of layered hydration.
Why AREUM Chose Organic Green Tea Extract
We chose Green Tea Extract for its naturally rich concentration of polyphenols, particularly catechins such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These plant compounds are valued for their antioxidant activity and their ability to help reduce the visible impact of environmental stress on the skin.
Rather than relying on a single antioxidant source, we combined Green Tea Extract with complementary ingredients that act in different ways. This creates a more balanced antioxidant system, helping support the skin against the multiple forms of oxidative stress encountered throughout the day.
