Vitamin B5 – Panthenol
INCI: Panthenol
Origin
Vitamin B5 is an essential, water-soluble vitamin that occurs naturally in the body and in many foods. In skincare, it is commonly used in the form of Panthenol, also known as provitamin B5.
The form used by AREUM is D-Panthenol, a purified, synthetically produced ingredient suspended in water. Once applied to the skin, Panthenol is converted into pantothenic acid, the biologically active form of Vitamin B5. The D form is selected because it is the form the body can metabolise.
How AREUM Uses It
We use Vitamin B5 in Guardian Antioxidant Serum, where it works alongside organic aloe vera juice, glycerine, hyaluronic acid, Sodium PCA and other hydrating and antioxidant ingredients.
It contributes moisture-binding, soothing and skin-conditioning care while supporting Guardian’s lightweight, water-based character. It helps the serum leave the skin feeling soft and comfortable without adding oil, richness or heaviness.
Why AREUM Chose Vitamin B5
We chose Panthenol because hydration is not only about adding water to the skin, but also about helping it retain moisture, stay comfortable and maintain a healthy protective barrier. It works in harmony with Guardian’s humectants, adding soothing and barrier-supporting benefits that make it especially valuable in a daily serum for skin affected by dryness, environmental stress or temporary sensitivity.
We specifically use the biologically active D form of Panthenol rather than a blend of D- and L-Panthenol. While both can contribute to surface hydration, only D-Panthenol is converted by the skin into active Vitamin B5, making it the form that delivers the full functional benefit.
